I don't like it. This is one thing I'm not going to rush out and buy immediately. At least not until there's a game that I really want to play but can't (I was going to play Wii U Smash Bros anyway).

Seriously. I got an e-mail from Nintendo Direct talking about a "new" 3DS and I'm thinking "I've only had my 3DS XL a few months. You're releasing another 3DS handheld already?". If the new 3DS games will work with the circle pad pro then I'll buy that instead. The only way I'll be rushing out to buy a new 3DS is if it has a gorilla glass top screen. That's all I really want in a handheld. I'm too clumsy with screen protectors and most screen protectors themselves aren't scratch resistant.

What I would have really liked Nintendo to announce was a device that lets you play all your 3DS games on a Wii U (or at least let you connect the 3DS to the Wii U and play through the gamepad and television screens). I'm not much of a mobile gamer anymore, and I prefer to play all my games on the couch. After all, the Wii U gamepad has all the required buttons and analogue sticks that the new 3DS has. It just seems like common sense to add 3DS cartridge compatibility to the Wii U, but what's more likely is that these titles will come out on the virtual console in a few years time.

I've been out of the loop on console updates for a while, but I like the idea you had there. On top of just being a neat feature in general, it would give Nintendo something to compete with Playstation's crossplay (if that system is still relevant anyways).
